Mix & Match Art Series: Realistic vs. Abstract Watercolors

Thursday — November 14, 2019 1:00pm to 3:30pm

Interested in self expression with a brush?! This fun, informative and stress-free beginner level workshop is a tour of some basic watercolor techniques. You will get to achieve realistic results with the classic techniques of wet on wet, dry brush, scumbling, and more. There will also be a variety of experimental watercolor tricks for abstract results to try out including the use of salt, alcohol, and saran wrap. Return home with one or two beautiful water-color greeting cards. With artist and WCSC member, Cynthia Yatchman. Materials provided.

Movie Screening: Lives Well Lived

Lives Well Lived is a feature documentary film by Sky Bergman that celebrates the incredible wit and wisdom of adults 75 to 100 years old who are living their lives to the fullest. Encompassing over 3000 years of experience, forty people share their secrets and insights to living a meaningful life. Their intimate memories and inspiring personal histories will make you laugh, and perhaps cry, but mostly inspire you. In partnership with Foundation House at Northgate. Celebrate Urban Birds

Participate in scientific research while learning about local and migrant birds! Celebrate Urban Birds is a citizen science project developed and launched by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, focused on better understanding the value of green spaces for birds while connecting people of all backgrounds with the natural world.
Meet at WCSC, then we’ll head out to Meridian Park to do our research.

Ride the WCSC Van to the Pacific Northwest Needle Arts Guild’s 2019 Fiber Art Show at ArtWorks in Edmonds! Our neighbors at the Good Shepherd Center, PNNAG’s 2019 Fiber Art Show features fiber and mixed media art made by their members. After the exhibit, stroll the streets of Edmonds to have lunch and shop. Bring money for lunch, or bring your lunch with you. Art Show is free to the public. Van departs promptly at 10:30 AM.

Collage and assemblage are both fun ways of exploring how different materials might be put together creatively, incorporating  images into a brand new visual form. Learn these striking art forms with the help of a local artist!

(Feathers, photographs, greeting cards, stamps, textured fabrics, old sheet music, fancy papers, magazines, and small found objects like stones, shells, buttons, or puzzle pieces to share are all greatly appreciated.)
